Tijdens de laatste dag van de SOLO-EXPOSITIE ‘COLORATECTURA‘ zal een ‘kunstenaarsgesprek’ worden gehouden met CARLOS SILVA, kunstenaar, architect en meubelontwerper. Carlos Silva zal een toelichting geven op zijn werk en zijn werkwijze demonstreren. Geboren (1971) en getogen in Cali, Colombia studeerde hij eerst architectuur aan de Universidad Javeriana in Bogota. Sinds 1999 woonachtig en werkzaam in Berlijn, Duitsland. Carlos’ werkwijze is een nevenschikking van controle en toeval, die doet denken aan oude kalligrafie-idealen. Elke penseelstreek heeft een gecontroleerde precisie, evenals de vloeiendheid van de lijn en de spontaniteit van de pols. Hij gebruikt veel levendige kleuren in zijn werk, waarbij elke tint ook zorgvuldig wordt gekozen en in de compositie wordt geplaatst. Deze combinatie van gebaren, vormen en kleuren vormt Carlos’ architecturaal geabstraheerde oeuvre.

During the last day of the SOLO EXHIBITION ‘COLORATECTURA‘ an ‘artist talk’ will be held with CARLOS SILVA, artist, architect and furniture designer. Carlos Silva will explain his work and demonstrate his method. Born (1971) and educated in Cali, Colombia, he first studied Architecture at the Universidad Javeriana in Bogota. Since 1999 living and working in Berlin, Germany. Carlos’ practise is a juxtaposition of control and chance, reminiscent of ancient calligraphy ideals. Each brushstroke has controlled precision, as well as also showing fluidity of the line and spontaneity of the wrist. He uses many vibrant colors within his work, with each shade also being carefully chosen and placed within the composition. This combination of gestures, shapes and colors form Carlos’ architecturally abstracted body of work.
